What is MHFA?
Mental Health First Aid is an 8 Hour Training, 1 Day basic training that can help officers better serve those in their community who may be experiencing a mental health or substance abuse crisis. MHFA was designed to help participants identify signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use disorders so that they can connect those in crisis to appropriate treatment and community resources.
Mental Health First Aid is co-facilitated by a law enforcement officer and a licensed mental health clinician. Also anyone taking the class will complete various quizzes and questionnaires to test their knowledge on Mental Health First Aid. They will receive their certificates through the new MFHA portal.
