CIT is a 40-hour, 5-day comprehensive training designed to give Police Officers better recognition of mental illness concerns; to gain practical, scenario- based training on suicide risk assessment, motivating those with substance use disorders, and de-escalating with those in crisis; and to increase knowledge about Officer Wellness and Peer Support. Guest presenters include: local law enforcement, the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), the MA Department of Mental Health, Elder Services, DCF, Aspire Health Alliance, the Autism/Law Enforcement Coalition, and many others.
